SHOW DAY FOUR
3:00PM – Cheech In Conversation
Presented by: Cheech Marin Center for Chicano Art
Speakers: Cheech Marin; Kulapat Yantrasast
Location: Dialogs Booth
Dialog: Join Cheech Marin in conversation with architect Kulapat Yantrasast to discuss “all things Cheech” – past, present, and future. Best known as one half of the hilariously irreverent, satirical, counter-culture, no-holds-barred duo Cheech and Chong, Cheech is recognized today as a preeminent Chicano art advocate for his renowned art collection and support of artists through museum exhibitions and publications. In May 2017, the City of Riverside and Riverside Art Museum announced their partnership with Cheech to create the “one place worldwide that everybody can go to for all things Chicano art,” positioning Riverside as what Cheech believes will be “the next great art town.”
Kulapat is the founder of wHY, the award-winning interdisciplinary design practice selected in October 2017 with acclaimed architecture firm Page & Turnbull to transform the former Riverside Public Library into a 61,420-sq-ft. cultural venue called The Cheech Marin Center for Chicano Art, Culture & Industry.
